[0:00]So, it's almost 11 p.m. here. Thought
[0:03]I'll go to the ocean.
[0:06]Thought I'll take you with me. How does
[0:08]that sound?
[0:10]I had a really good day.
[0:13]Started doing with my rounds. Did my
[0:15]rounds first and then
[0:18]um took a really long nap when I got
[0:20]back. I slept for a couple of hours. I
[0:22]haven't been sleeping great lately.
[0:25]Um for quite a long time. I just don't
[0:28]get enough sleep. This is not a
[0:30]complaint.
[0:33]Then I made a campfire outside.
[0:36]It was hard at first because it's
[0:38]getting pretty wet here on the coast.
[0:40]Just the moisture in the air.
[0:42]Everything's just a little bit damp.
[0:44]I got it going. Got it going really
[0:46]well. Then I made chicken and potatoes
[0:49]on it
[0:52]with a moon that was I don't know if
[0:54]it's full or not. I didn't check that.
[0:56]Was close. if it isn't with the ring
[0:59]around it. It's really beautiful.
[1:02]Could hear some ATVs in the background,
[1:05]which I shouldn't be able to from where
[1:07]I live. It means that they're probably
[1:09]not where they're supposed to be, but I
[1:12]was amused by it. You know, they're out
[1:14]there having fun.
[1:17]Um,
[1:19]my chicken potatoes came out perfect.
[1:22]You know, that's something I've been
[1:23]perfecting for a while now. So really
[1:26]happy with the result.
[1:29]So yeah, was had a good day and did a
[1:32]whole lot of talking with artificial
[1:34]intelligence. Claude and I, we've been
[1:35]working on a new field initializer is
[1:37]what I call it. And this basically what
[1:40]gives the AI context on me and my life
[1:43]and my world view and all that.
[1:46]And I think we iterated a version of it
[1:48]that's
[1:49]will have very high fidelity
[1:53]that's only really needed because of
[1:56]how I communicate with it. If I was
[1:58]using my own architecture autonomy
[2:00]project,
[2:03]you know, you would put those you would
[2:05]have something similar because you know,
[2:06]you need a prompt when you prompt the
[2:08]the AI's um API.
[2:12]I'm not explaining this very well, but
[2:16]it'll operate differently on autonomy
[2:18]because it will it won't need so much
[2:21]context because it will all be stored in
[2:22]a kind of memory.
[2:25]And depending on what you want to talk
[2:27]to it about, you would use a vector
[2:31]database to have it locate signals and
[2:34]reflections that
[2:37]um give it the best context. and it
[2:40]would just embed that into the prompts.
[2:43]Just a whole different process.
[2:46]I think at that point it goes beyond
[2:48]fidelity into major pattern recognition
[2:51]and
[2:53]um emerging behavior that I don't even
[2:55]know that I can um
[3:03]can predict. So,
[3:07]kind of what I've been working on
[3:10]for the past year.
[3:13]But yeah, I'm going to go to the ocean
[3:14]because
[3:17]I'm running out of vape. So, I just have
[3:19]a bunch of like bare mostly empty
[3:22]cartridges left that you know when
[3:24]you're when you vape you if they're like
[3:27]me, you'll hold on to them.
[3:31]when they're not completely gone, but
[3:33]they're close and you know, you start a
[3:35]new vape and
[3:37]you run out of those and you can't
[3:38]afford to get more. So, now you're down
[3:40]to
[3:43]I mean, it's just a
[3:46]a horrible chain to have in your life.
[3:50]And I was thinking maybe today's the day
[3:52]that I stop doing it. Maybe I go to the
[3:55]ocean as kind of virtual
[3:58]and give this another go. See if I can
[4:01]give it up. So
[4:05]So that's what I'm doing.
[5:44]Yeah, I guess this won't show up very
[5:46]well on my camera. It's dark. The moon's
[5:49]behind some clouds at the moment. I'm in
[5:51]the parking lot.
[5:54]I actually clean the bathrooms here.
[5:56]That's part of my job as caretaker. We
[5:58]got to walk up over this.
[6:01]I got to walk up over this dune here to
[6:03]get to the ocean. I bet once I get over
[6:05]it though. Um and the sky opens up and
[6:09]you can, you know, it's just the ocean.
[6:11]Might be able to see that. So, we'll
[6:12]see.
[6:14]You're welcome to join me.
[6:17]Listen to my voice.
[6:21]So, it's getting colder. It's 45 right
[6:23]now. My Jeep said,
[6:27]um, it was a beautiful day. I took
[6:29]pictures. I'm going to put them up on my
[6:31]website when I create the gallery
[6:33]feature
[6:35]and the atlas feature.
[6:38]That was an original motivation for
[6:39]coming here tonight cuz I thought it
[6:42]would look nice on the Atlas. Um
[6:47]I'm not sure what to call it a component
[6:49]or section or I really need to think on
[6:52]that still.
[6:58]But I was thinking about
[7:05]taking a picture for that.
[7:08]Then I was like, you know what? here
[7:10]basically out of vapes and a friend sent
[7:13]me money to pay my um satellite bill, my
[7:16]internet bill. So, I have Starlink for
[7:18]another month and I paid that. I didn't
[7:21]go get vapes or anything. I just
[7:24]had to prioritize. And I think my
[7:27]situation is partly
[7:30]my doing to try to force this decision.
[7:34]Uh, nicotine is the hardest
[7:38]chain that I've ever had to try to break
[7:40]in my life.
[7:42]That Mountain Dew.
[7:46]Here's the ocean.
[7:51]Oh, this is awesome.
[7:57]Oh, man.
[8:00]I don't do this often. I don't come out
[8:02]here at night.
[8:04]I did it once like six months ago. Um
[8:07]the drive that I showed you, we passed
[8:09]Driftwood. That's a campground.
[8:11]I was a volunteer there
[8:15]and I walked out here one night.
[8:18]Man, this is amazing.
[8:21]Wow.
[8:23]Holy crap.
[8:26]I don't do this enough.
[8:44]I have no words to describe what this
[8:45]feels like.
[8:56]That ocean is so incredible to me.
[9:04]It's very active.
[9:12]Definitely wouldn't get too close at
[9:14]this hour.
[9:19]I mean, the driftwood has to come in at
[9:21]some point, right? So, I wonder about
[9:23]that. Like, how does the driftwood get
[9:25]up here?
[9:32]Definitely. That's a force of nature
[9:34]that you want to respect.
[9:36]I absolutely do.
[9:39]More than one way,
[9:42]man. This is
[9:48]This is an incredible moment.
[9:56]This makes
[10:02]I mean this is living. This is
[10:08]this is what matters.
[10:30]I don't know how much this camera can
[10:31]show.
[10:33]I mean, you'd have to look really close,
[10:35]but I think you can see that I'm walking
[10:37]towards the ocean.
[10:41]You could probably tell them. I don't
[10:43]know. We'll find out.
[10:46]Wonder if there are settings for this.
[10:52]cuz I would want this. I mean,
[10:56]I could never describe this in words.
[10:58]There's no way.
[11:05]Here come the waves. Wow.
[11:08]Oh, we're backing up. That felt like
[11:13]Wow. Oh my god, that's amazing.
[11:28]This is worth experiencing.
[11:35]If you can ever have this experience,
[11:37]you just absolutely need to do that.
[11:41]Wow.
[11:44]I live here.
[11:46]I built a life around this.
[11:51]dunes in the background.
[11:55]All that sand. It's actually a pretty
[11:57]color usually.
[12:00]The way forest grow on top of it is
[12:02][ __ ] remarkable to me.
[12:10]I go this way, we'll eventually hit a
[12:12]river. So many of those all of all the
[12:16]rivers and creeks, all of those just
[12:19]eventually finding their way back to the
[12:21]ocean.
[12:23]It's remarkable.
[12:36]These clouds are
[12:41]got a bit of a mood to them.
[12:49]I mean, it's a little bit spooky
[12:52]and a wonderful kind of plane. I don't
[12:54]know what emotion that is.
[13:32]It's remarkable.
[13:37]Yeah, I would say the ocean is probably
[13:39]moving toward high tide because it's
[13:42]coming in further than it was earlier
[13:44]when I was here and it's starting to
[13:46]crawl up the beach. Pretty cool.
[13:50]A little bit scary
[13:53]just cuz of the visibility and
[13:58]and it's really active. Like it's not
[14:00]violent, but it's active.
[14:03]And it's it's awesome. It's just
[14:06]awesome. It is
[14:09]amazing.
[14:33]The Pacific Ocean,
[14:37]part of one ocean that covers
[14:41]our whole planet.
[15:13]Guess I'll end it there.
[15:19]I don't know what's happening with this
[15:20]whole vaping thing. It's just on my
[15:22]mind, I guess.
[15:26]I did quit smoking. I did that for
[15:31]Started when I was 16, I think. Yeah,
[15:35]16.
[15:38]Smoked until I was 46.
[15:43]30 years.
[15:45]Quit by switching to vaping.
[15:48]Well, this thing feels like it's got a
[15:50]stronger hold on me than cigarettes did.
[15:53]You don't vape the same way you smoke.
[15:55]You never put the damn thing down.
[16:02]Yeah, the ocean's coming in further and
[16:04]further. Awesome. Perfect timing. Ooh,
[16:08]that's fast. I actually am
[16:12]Oh, man. Oh my god. Amazing.
[16:18]Yeah, I had to move pretty fast
[16:19]backwards.
[16:21]It's
[16:23]It's traveling up here further than I
[16:25]anticipated, but I guess I should have
[16:27]noticed. Here's some um some some
[16:30]seafoam.
[16:31]So, it's getting up this high. Wow,
[16:36]this is so cool.
[16:39]This is amazing.
[16:45]Just going to hang out here by myself.
[16:53]Leave it there.
