[0:01]Hi, Mom. This one's for you.
[0:04]It's only you. I couldn't wear this hat
[0:07]otherwise. I can't
[0:10]sitting in my bed here being a little
[0:12]bit lazy. I'm going to get up now. Got
[0:15]to remember where the lens is at.
[0:19]A little bit tired today.
[0:22]Guess I'll wear my flip flops.
[0:26]Um,
[0:28]let me flip the camera. Here's what my
[0:30]RV looks like right now. Obviously got
[0:32]your statue over there. I'm keeping
[0:35]these open because there's really no
[0:37]reason to close them and these work
[0:38]really well. This is my workspace. My
[0:41]laptop is off in here now. My bed over
[0:44]here. I popped my queensiz air mattress
[0:48]with these keys right here and I'm still
[0:50]putting them on there. That's stupid of
[0:51]me. Um it's comfortable enough. I don't
[0:56]have um propane right now, so I'm having
[0:58]to use my electric heater.
[1:03]Let me show you where I live.
[1:07]That's my truck right there.
[1:09]That's what I drove today.
[1:12]Those are the people who are out on the
[1:13]dunes right now. I wasn't here when they
[1:16]got here, so I don't know who's out
[1:18]there, but I have a feeling I know who.
[1:20]Let's just start at the beginning.
[1:25]So over here is the game, the entrance.
[1:31]You can hear the ocean in the distance.
[1:33]I don't know if that'll show up on
[1:34]camera, but I can hear it. That's my
[1:37]gate right there.
[1:39]It's normally shut, but during the day,
[1:41]they tend to keep it open just cuz
[1:43]nobody wants to deal with this gate. Not
[1:45]even me. Looks like that gate across the
[1:48]street. So, you know, at night, this is
[1:51]just completely locked up.
[1:53]Come in this way. That big building.
[1:56]There's our work center. And there's
[1:57]where I can do my laundry. There's even
[1:59]a shower in there and a bathroom. And
[2:02]I'm right in the middle. They put the
[2:04]caretaker right in the middle. That shed
[2:06]is mine.
[2:09]It's got my stuff in there. It's
[2:10]actually organized pretty well. I don't
[2:12]have my keys on me. I might have opened
[2:14]it. Got my lights up. Did that last
[2:18]night. I'm going to put my fire pit
[2:21]right here. So, I'm going to dig a hole
[2:24]here. There's my firewood I collected.
[2:26]Putting pop cans in there for Wendy. She
[2:28]takes them in and she's very helpful to
[2:31]me, so I don't worry about um you know,
[2:34]she she's been really really good
[2:36]friends.
[2:39]Um so, this is where I live now,
[2:44]mostly back here by myself.
[2:50]And we just got all our stuff. There's a
[2:53]lot of ATVs in there. Um, but everything
[2:56]else is just normal work center stuff, I
[2:58]guess.
[3:03]There's a bear around. So, over in that
[3:06]corner over there, whole bunch of trash
[3:09]that John never, the last caretaker,
[3:11]never cleaned up. So, I'm going to deal
[3:13]with that.
[3:15]Um, but don't worry about the bear.
[3:20]It's just, you know, there's a bear.
[3:21]There's always bears around, but
[3:25]I mean, I've seen them a couple times,
[3:27]actually. Not here, but just in in the
[3:30]corridor.
[3:31]Um, you go down the road and you'll find
[3:33]all the campgrounds.
[3:35]We got
[3:37]three of them. So, Wax Myrtle, which is
[3:40]closed for the winter, Lagoon,
[3:43]um, which is open, half open. One of the
[3:45]loops is closed there. And then
[3:47]Driftwood, which is where I originally
[3:49]started.
[3:51]All got friends all throughout this
[3:52]corridor. You know, Bill's back there.
[3:54]He's always giving me Mountain Dew. He
[3:56]actually buys them. And he whenever I
[3:59]come down there, he hands me a can. It's
[4:01]very sweet, sweet old man.
[4:04]Wendy's still here. She's at Wax Myrtle,
[4:06]but she's going to be moved soon cuz
[4:08]that campground's closed. I met the um
[4:11]host to uh Lagoon today. He seemed real
[4:14]nice. And then we got Mike who's also at
[4:17]Driftwood. And that's a complicated
[4:19]friendship, but it's mostly fine. Um,
[4:24]that's everybody in the corridor. But,
[4:26]you know, I also leave here. I go on the
[4:27]101, travel down the highway to all our
[4:30]different day use areas,
[4:32]um, and boat launches cuz we have a
[4:34]bunch of lakes around here.
[4:36]And a couple different campgrounds. Some
[4:39]of those are closed for the winter also
[4:41]and a couple are open. On the park coast
[4:44]day off I go and I do their campgrounds
[4:47]for them. Um I think on Wednesdays
[4:50]today's Wednesday
[4:52]was no on Tuesdays. Wait, I'm off
[4:54]Tuesday. I have Monday and Tuesday off.
[4:56]I'm going to have to look at my notes. I
[4:57]wrote it down. But one day a week I I do
[4:59]their campgrounds for them and just
[5:01]their bathrooms, you know. Um I don't
[5:05]have to check people in anymore. I don't
[5:06]have to deal with the guests or anything
[5:08]like that unless they just happen to
[5:09]come across me while I'm driving the
[5:10]truck.
[5:12]Not cool doing it.
[5:15]So,
[5:17]it's my new life. I love you, Mom.
[5:20]Really hope I get to see you again soon.
[5:22]It's been too long.
