[0:01]So, I've been to the ocean.
[0:04]Been hiking a different trail back for a
[0:06]couple miles now.
[0:09]Feeling pretty tired. My legs are a
[0:10]little sore.
[0:13]I'm hungry when I get home.
[0:17]Probably going to be another hour, I
[0:18]guess.
[0:21]I was just thinking about something that
[0:23]I wanted to share.
[0:26]So
[0:29]imagine that we didn't have any
[0:30]restaurants. They're all closed.
[0:35]And then one day
[0:38]we don't have grocery stores anymore
[0:42]cuz they're not getting supplies.
[0:45]What do you do?
[0:52]What do you do if there are no grocery
[0:54]stores?
[0:56]How do you feed yourself and your
[0:58]family?
[1:00]Would you stay at home in a
[1:02]neighborhood?
[1:07]If so, why? You have no food. There's
[1:10]nothing there for you.
[1:14]You could try growing food, I guess, on
[1:17]whatever property you have. Can you
[1:19]protect it
[1:22]for how long?
[1:25]Cuz the grocery stores aren't closed
[1:27]just for you. They're closed for
[1:29]everybody.
[1:31]And we've more than doubled the
[1:32]population on this planet in the last
[1:34]what, 20 years.
[1:37]There's a lot of people
[1:40]who will be very hungry
[1:45]and trying to answer the question that I
[1:48]asked you at the start of this video.
[1:53]That's basically how are you going to
[1:55]feed yourself.
[1:59]It's one of the most basic skills that
[2:01]we've had as humans for millennia.
[2:06]And somehow we have lost it.
[2:09]We have outsourced
[2:12]so much of our survival to systems that
[2:15]we don't control
[2:17]and that are at the edge of breaking.
[2:24]And we don't have any fallback options
[2:28]because when it happens,
[2:30]people aren't going to know how to
[2:32]survive because they've never had to
[2:34]know how.
[2:36]That's the problem we have in our modern
[2:38]society and it's global.
[2:41]And it's why I changed my life and live
[2:45]the way that I do
[2:48]because I don't have those skills either
[2:50]and I'm trying to learn them. So, the
[2:53]rain picked up and it um was dropping on
[2:56]my phone and it turned it off somehow
[2:58]the camera. So,
[3:00]just waited a little while.
[3:04]So, all I was really trying to say
[3:08]is
[3:11]that's part of the future that I see
[3:13]coming
[3:15]and I'm trying to prepare for it the
[3:17]best I can. I already live as if it's
[3:19]already happened. AI would call it post
[3:22]collapse.
[3:23]It's already my orientation in life.
[3:27]And
[3:30]why I want to build a resilient
[3:32]community.
[3:35]I don't need followers. I don't need
[3:38]like-minded people. I need respectful
[3:41]people who recognize signal over noise.
[3:46]I want to listen.
[3:51]who are one to help support a sovereign
[3:53]signal like this one.
[3:57]There's a lot I'm trying to build
[4:01]cuz I believe we're going to need it.
[4:08]I leave it at that.
