[0:00]So, we're traveling 40 miles south to
[0:03]where I'll be volunteering in a week.
[0:04]Horsef fall campground. I just want to
[0:06]see what it looks like. It's an off-grid
[0:09]campground. Um, the host there's just
[0:11]there would be me and one other person
[0:13]are the only ones that have hookups. I
[0:15]want to see what my site would look
[0:16]like. It's probably empty right now just
[0:17]waiting for me. So, I just want to check
[0:20]it out. I want to see how busy it is,
[0:22]what it looks like, how loud it is, all
[0:24]of that. Just get a feel for this place.
[0:28]Um, I'm excited about it. I'm going to
[0:30]post this to my private channel and
[0:33]since it's going to be multiple clips,
[0:34]I'll have to um, you know, clip them all
[0:37]together and Power Director and my
[0:38]subscription for that ended. So, down in
[0:40]the bottom right, you're going to see a
[0:41]stupid overlay that says Power Director.
[0:43]Can't do anything about it, so I can
[0:44]renew that. It's not very expensive.
[0:46]It's only like $40 a
[0:48]year. So, hopefully it's not too
[0:51]distracting. I don't like seeing it, but
[0:53]it is what it
[0:54]is. This is a good day. It's very nice
[0:57]out. It's cold, but it's a clear day,
[1:00]sunny.
[1:02]Um, I'm excited about this. We're going
[1:05]to pass through and pass the Reed
[1:08]Sport. Um, which is a, you know, I'm up
[1:11]near Honeyman right now. I'm near
[1:12]Florence. So, we'll pass through
[1:13]Reedport. We'll pass through Winchester
[1:15]Bay. It's a very nice area. I've got
[1:17]videos of that like with John where we
[1:19]went exploring that place. And then
[1:22]we'll pass Tuckman, which is the first
[1:24]place that I volunteered at.
[1:27]And after that, you there's Lakeside,
[1:30]which is where my post office box is.
[1:32]It's a cool little city. I just wanted
[1:34]my post office box to be there, even
[1:35]though it's a little bit out of the way.
[1:37]You go down the road to get to it. And
[1:41]after that,
[1:43]um there's really nothing, just the
[1:44]dunes. And then we'll get to Horsefall
[1:47]Campgrounds before right before reaching
[1:49]Kusay, which is the big city. So, right
[1:52]before you get to the bridge there, um
[1:54]we'll we'll kind of we'll curve over
[1:56]towards the ocean. Big bridge there. And
[2:00]I have never been down there. I had
[2:01]planned to go that way. I didn't know
[2:03]about this campground, but I had planned
[2:04]to go that way because it looks like,
[2:05]you know, that's where the beach access
[2:07]is
[2:08]at. And we'll check this place out. So,
[2:12]yeah,
[2:14]excited. You can see the trails I hike
[2:17]there. That's Tuckman overpassing. I
[2:20]love that my GPS shows off that even
[2:21]while I'm driving on my Jeep. Best guy
[2:25]GPS. I love that app. We're passing
[2:28]Lakeside right now. Thinking maybe I
[2:30]should go check my post office box.
[2:32]Somebody had left a comment a week ago
[2:34]asking for it, but they never never said
[2:37]if they were sending anything. So,
[2:40]um, it's a bit down that road. It's not
[2:43]real far, but maybe on the way back. I
[2:45]was just reflecting, you know, I'm
[2:47]heading south on the 101.
[2:50]And it's like you just go up and down
[2:52]the 101. I'm not my GPS even though it's
[2:54]on. It's not
[2:58]um not mapping anything. It's not
[3:00]navigating. It's just on. See, there's
[3:03]another trail. I don't even know which
[3:05]one that is. Oh, Ill Creek Campground.
[3:08]Oh, yeah. I explored that place one day.
[3:10]Um so whenever my phone is actually
[3:13]being really slow, I don't know why. Um
[3:16]to flip sides, camera sides.
[3:19]whenever I
[3:23]um this it's coming from my phone that
[3:26]that that display on my Jeep. So, you
[3:28]know, on my phone I can use the guy GPS
[3:30]app and I can just explore all the
[3:31]places that I've been and um it's just
[3:34]fun to look at all the places I've
[3:37]explored. You know, I want to keep
[3:38]filling that out. Um I I do I turn it on
[3:43]whenever I'm hiking or whenever I'm
[3:44]driving up and down the 101. So,
[3:46]anyways, that's what I was talking
[3:47]about.
[3:48]you know, north and south on the
[3:50]101. You really don't need to map
[3:53]directions because you pretty much know
[3:54]where you're going.
[3:57]And I just also love the fact that it's
[4:00]like the 101 is the bridge of my life.
[4:02]Like everything that matters to me is on
[4:05]this
[4:05]highway. And I
[4:08]just absolutely love it. Like I love
[4:10]this road almost like I love the ocean.
[4:12]I can't explain it, you know?
[4:15]So, I feel like I have such a great life
[4:21]because I never could have imagined this
[4:24]a year ago, but here I am living it. I
[4:26]think it's just amazing. We've got some
[4:28]beautiful dunes back
[4:31]there. There's some over
[4:38]here. This whole side of the road is
[4:42]dunes, even when you can't see them.
[4:44]That's why the 101 curves inward the
[4:47]whole length from Kusme to
[4:49]Florence. We're going to we're at one
[4:51]end of it right now where we're staying
[4:53]and we're heading to the other end of it
[4:55]now because that's where we'll be
[4:57]volunteering. We should be pretty close
[4:59]I
[5:01]think once I get to the bridge where you
[5:04]would travel over to Northbend/cus Bay.
[5:06]There's two cities there.
[5:09]I don't know.
[5:10]There technically two cities, but it's,
[5:13]you know, it feels like one. That kind
[5:14]of thing. But once you get to the
[5:16]bridge, like right before that bridge,
[5:18]there should be a different bridge
[5:20]curving off towards the ocean. I haven't
[5:22]taken this one yet. And that's where
[5:24]we're
[5:25]heading. Yep. There's the bridge in the
[5:27]distance. Such a big, beautiful bridge.
[5:29]We're going to take this little I don't
[5:32]even know what you call this. It's right
[5:34]here.
[5:41]Horsefall Dunes Beach
[5:43]Access. That's where we're
[5:53]going. We're going to take this
[5:55]interesting land bridge, I guess. I
[5:57]don't know what you call this.
[6:02]Transpacific
[6:04]Parkway. I think that's probably the 101
[6:06]it was talking
[6:10]about. Wow, it looks
[6:13]awesome. Oh my god. Imagine living here.
[6:16]I'm going to be volunteering here for a
[6:17]long
[6:30]time. Already someone trying to tailgate
[6:33]me. People drive
[6:36]like very inconsiderate these
[6:40]days. So this must be a lake
[6:46]um on both sides of the
[6:48]road. I wonder how wonder if the water
[6:53]like if they're connected at all. Those
[6:57]are some amazing dunes and
[6:59]like Oh, those are old railroad
[7:03]um
[7:11]Oh, so I've never been over here. We
[7:13]just got to look for the
[7:16]signs. Going over railroad
[7:20]track. I love railroads. Oh my god, I'm
[7:23]going to love it here so much. I can
[7:26]already
[7:30]tell. Horsefall Beach Road. I'm going to
[7:33]assume we go that
[7:35]way. Yep. Oregon Dunes National
[7:38]Recreation Horsefall. Oh, we are here.
[7:40]We are here already. Oh my god, this is
[7:44]awesome. Can't wait to be
[7:47]here. My phone turned off on
[7:50]accident. next two and a half miles. So,
[7:53]this is a pretty big
[7:56]place. This person behind me, my phone
[8:00]keeps shutting off. It's acting very
[8:01]strange today. I don't know. Maybe it's
[8:03]slow in space or something or just I
[8:06]don't know. I'll look at it
[8:11]later. So, we will be going towards a
[8:14]campground.
[8:22]Sand camp
[8:25]information. I don't know what this is.
[8:27]It's a place to detach your Jeep though
[8:28]when you're towing an RV. That's for
[8:30]sure. Well, no, that's the road. Okay.
[8:32]Wait, no. Yeah, that's a
[8:34]pulloff, I
[8:39]think. Horsefall
[8:41]campground and Dave's area. as we go
[8:45]this
[8:47]way. Oh man, I love this so much
[8:51]already. Beach access is only down a um
[8:55]some like a sand road or something. I
[8:57]think that you're allowed to. There's
[8:59]one that you can go down with the Jeep
[9:01]um without having to get the
[9:03]permit. I'm unsure about that. We're
[9:05]just going to go to the day use area and
[9:07]then we're going to walk into the
[9:08]campground. See it right
[9:11]there. Wow, this is awesome.
[9:16]Okay, so it goes from spin wheel to
[9:19]horsefall. It's a pretty good
[9:21][Music]
[9:23]distance. We're just going to head over
[9:25]to the campground. It's a very busy day
[9:28]use
[9:29]area. Almost didn't have a place to
[9:34]park. Just going to head to the camper.
[9:37]Sorry, my phone work better now.
[9:47]gates open 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. And I
[9:51]know that um they can be out on the
[9:53]dunes until midnight. So, she told me
[9:55]that doesn't make a lot of sense, but
[9:56]that's how it works
[10:02]here. Should be the campground over
[10:04]here. Yep.
[10:09]This is where we'll be volunteering
[10:11]cleaning the
[10:17]bathrooms. It's all off grid
[10:29]though. It's pretty big um parking spot.
[10:33]They're
[10:35]numbered. Looks like just picnic tables
[10:38]out
[10:39]there. Maybe a
[10:48]trail. Definitely an active place.
[11:12]I've seen all these signs
[11:15]before. Nothing new for
[11:17]me.
[11:24]Nope. Okay. Volunteer host spot number
[11:30]one. They are ATVers. I got a bunch of
[11:33]them. I'll stop and talk to
[11:37]him. I'm going to I'm going to go talk
[11:40]to him real fast. I'll tell you what's
[11:42]up. Okay. So, there's two possible
[11:44]places I'll be at.
[11:47]Um, one could be on the beach or it
[11:49]could be here. It's probably going to be
[11:51]here. The person I'll be working with,
[11:54]he seems okay, but he's got a little bit
[11:58]of an attitude about some things. I'll
[12:00]navigate him.
[12:03]Um this is pretty small.
[12:08]Um small
[12:18]loop the site it seemed okay. It's right
[12:21]up front next to the restrooms right
[12:23]next to the other camp
[12:25]posts.
[12:28]Um it seems all right though.
[12:32]It's Yeah, cuz the RVs are just kind of
[12:35]parked. Oh, those numbered spots are the
[12:37]campsites. Okay. Oh, wow. That's
[12:42]different.
[12:44]Huh. Wow. Those are the
[12:47]campsites. Look like there's a trail
[12:49]over
[12:51]here. I don't know if there's anything I
[12:57]see. Got different dunes and stuff.
[13:01][Music]
[13:04]be a fun place to explore. You have to
[13:06]be careful though. I want to get one of
[13:08]the
[13:08][Music]
[13:11]Y18. Okay, so those numbered spots of
[13:13]the campsite. That's new. I haven't seen
[13:15]anything like that
[13:17][Music]
[13:25]before. Talk about how
[13:45][Music]
[13:48]hierarchy the host.
[13:59]So a smart place
[14:06]every not what I
[14:08]expected over
[14:10][Music]
[14:31]station makes
[14:33]sense. This is going to be a very
[14:35]different experience.
[14:43]Not always a good
[14:49]guy. So, some sites are nicer like
[14:51]number two right there. Not kind of
[14:53]nicer. I'm saying that I might be out on
[14:56]the beach.
[14:58]So, have to ask about that. Try to find
[15:03]them if I can.
[15:09]This is fascinating.
[15:15]So your camping here, your camping user
[15:19]me, you know, you're freaking Walmart
[15:21]parking,
[15:24]right?
[15:27]Wild area is full. Find a place to park
[15:31]there.
[15:35]I don't know where I go
[15:38]exploring a little bit more. This is how
[15:41]I look at a place. I'll check it
[15:44]out. Just slowly come
[15:51]back. This is how
[15:57]I next
[15:59]summer trail.
[16:05]Okay, while we're here, we might as well
[16:07]check everything out that we can. We're
[16:08]going to just head to the right, which
[16:09]takes you closer to the ocean. I mean,
[16:11]there's a road here, so let's take it.
[16:13]See where it goes. I have no
[16:24]idea. He did mention beach camping. Oh,
[16:27]this is fascinating.
[16:30]Drive through some
[16:33]water.
[16:35]Wow, it's a little bit flooded back
[16:37]here. Cool. Oh, I love
[16:41]this. Okay. Old park road staging area.
[16:47]Hello. Staging area. So, you probably,
[16:50]you know, places to park and stuff. Get
[16:52]to the
[16:54]dunes. Everybody having fun here?
[16:56]Everything's a little bit flooded, I
[16:58]guess.
[16:59]Got dunes over there. Man, you could
[17:01]have so much fun out there if you had
[17:02]the right
[17:09]equipment. All the yellow flowers are
[17:12]killing
[17:14]me. Okay, we got a picnic area over
[17:17]here. So, that's
[17:20]nice. We'll check that out at some
[17:22]point.
[17:30]So that's just I don't even know what
[17:32]you call that. It's just flooded like
[17:36]just
[17:37]flooded lots of
[17:39]water. This is interesting.
[17:55]Definitely takes a certain kind of
[17:56]person to volunteer here, which explains
[17:58]that the people I just met. Oh
[18:02]man. Oh, that's interesting. No camping
[18:06]there, it says.
[18:13]I really hope these yellow flowers are
[18:14]responsible for my
[18:16]allergies cuz there's so many of them
[18:18]here. Oh yeah, they are in the dunes.
[18:20]They grow really strongly in the dunes.
[18:22]I wonder if that was a trail I could
[18:25]take. It wasn't an official one, but it
[18:27]looked like you could probably Is it
[18:29]like a
[18:33]trail? She didn't mention a beach to me.
[18:36]I don't
[18:37]think. I'll have to find
[18:42]out. So, where are we going? This is a
[18:45]long road. Whoa, that was a big
[18:51]dip. What does this
[18:53]say? Trail head. Okay, good. Blue bill
[18:56]Lake trail head. Okay, now we found a
[18:59]trail. Need places to go
[19:02]hiking safely. Okay, there's a lake over
[19:06]there. Oh, we got to go check that out
[19:08]over
[19:09]here.
[19:11]Um, something over
[19:14]there. Blue
[19:16]campground closed. Probably open to me
[19:19]first.
[19:34]Wild Mare Horse
[19:36]Camp. Pretty sure that's closed. Yeah,
[19:39]we could always explore that while we're
[19:41]here, of
[19:44]course. So, the horses used to come back
[19:47]here, you know, so that the humans could
[19:50]explore out of the horses, I
[19:52]bet. But then the ATVers took
[20:00]over. What do we have here? Oh, that's
[20:03]another day used area. Bill Run staging
[20:06]area. B run staging area. Okay, so we
[20:09]got a staging area there. Lots of places
[20:11]to get on the
[20:13]dunes. Wow, this could be so fun,
[20:16]especially if I make some friends who
[20:17]have ATVs and take me out there and
[20:20]stuff.
[20:24]have so much fun
[20:25]here. This could be an interesting light
[20:27]for a
[20:29]while. Okay. Horsefall Beach Campground
[20:32]and day use area. So, this is the
[20:35]one. Let's see what we got back
[20:40]here. It's a big day use
[20:44]area. Oh, wow. Big day use area. Now,
[20:47]the ocean is going to be on the other
[20:48]side of that. Oh, this is this is also
[20:52]camping. Oh my, this is very
[20:55]strange. They just park and it's a
[20:57]parking lot.
[20:59]Wow, that's wild. Okay, up there. That's
[21:02]going to be the spot. It's going to I
[21:04]think I don't know if it's next to that
[21:06]RV. Probably is though, cuz other that's
[21:09]what it was like at the other
[21:12]spot. Um, so yeah, we got ATVs back
[21:16]there. So, not safe to be walking over
[21:18]there. That's a hiking trail though,
[21:20]right there. Okay. And this is parking
[21:22]cuz there's a day there. A horsefall.
[21:24]Says it right there. So, let's stop
[21:27]here. Right next to those
[21:30]bathrooms. I wonder if the other RV just
[21:32]parks next to that. That would be so Oh,
[21:34]man. That would be a difficult spot to
[21:36]try to get
[21:38]into, but I think that's what you do.
[21:40]So, Oh, man. I'll find out which one
[21:44]it's going to be here at the beach.
[21:49]I could text her.
[21:54]Maybe it's got to be cuz I don't see any
[21:57]other spots. So, wow. To navigate
[22:03]that. This is going to be different, but
[22:05]I'm going to embrace it. Going to
[22:07]embrace it. Based on what she was
[22:10]telling me, I don't think it's going to
[22:12]be the beach because she was telling me
[22:13]that I could get to the beach by driving
[22:15]down a road and it was probably this
[22:18]road. We're going to take this really
[22:20]long walkway. See where it takes
[22:24]us. It's going to be the ocean, which is
[22:27]going to be
[22:34]amazing. It's very windy.
[22:39]They just parked there
[22:42]just
[22:45]crazy and
[22:53]water. I see all kinds of duners out
[22:56]there, man. It's going to be
[22:58]amazing. This is
[23:01]beautiful. There's the
[23:04]ocean. Oh, man.
[23:17]So this is Oh, you can't even get to the
[23:20]beach. Have to go
[23:23]around. No beach access from
[23:27]field. Oh, it's down
[23:31]there.
[23:33]Okay. Oh, this is a nice beach. Easy
[23:35]waves and
[23:48]tra where that sign is there. That's
[23:50]going to be where the the doom buggies
[23:53]get any further than
[23:55]that. This little right here is
[23:57]Milwaukee that
[23:59]way. Dune buggies that way.
[24:04]They're going out
[24:16]now. That will be so
[24:20]fun. Oh, he's going
[24:26]right. It's
[24:29]pretty such a beach.
[24:33]Oh, I just lost my hat. That's not
[24:37]good. I got
[24:39]it. I knew that was going to
[24:42]happen. This is
[24:50]nice. Yeah, I'm going to like this. I'll
[24:52]spend a lot of time here.
[25:00]See how far we can explore that
[25:05]way. There's less people here.
[25:10]Really? He just drove down from a
[25:12]different campground, I
[25:18]bet.
[25:25]Racing. Yeah.
[25:28]Well, because it's not a great spot.
[25:30]It's not camping. You're literally just
[25:32]in a parking lot right next to
[25:36]restrooms.
[25:40]That's maybe for my lifestyle, it's
[25:49]okay.
[25:51]And like I
[25:54]was seeing I'll try to
[26:00]be people tend
[26:06]to
[26:15]like and
[26:18]um which means his his dad the guy that
[26:20]I was talking to is at least open-minded
[26:24]you know like he's not trying to control
[26:26]those kids. So, I mean, maybe um maybe
[26:30]I'll get along with him. We'll see.
[26:33]Maybe he just really cares about the
[26:36]bathrooms. So, I'm going to do my job.
[26:41]So, is this guy keeping Can't tell. He
[26:45]might
[26:46]be might be attractive.
[26:53][Music]
[26:55]This is going to be
[26:57]interesting.
[26:59]Different. Very
[27:01]different. Dune culture. True Dune
[27:03]culture. Not like hunting. This is
[27:08]different. I'm going to embrace
[27:12]this. I'm going to make the best of it
[27:14]that I
[27:16]can. So, this is interesting. Oh,
[27:20]somebody left their [ __ ] broken
[27:21]though. Real
[27:27]broken. Horse
[27:32]fall. It's going to be
[27:35]different. We will make the best of
[27:37]this. You know what? Um, I have a
[27:40]feeling only
[27:41]one person is in that spot. Like that's
[27:44]their spot right there. There probably
[27:47]isn't a second person. So, when he's
[27:49]saying beach, I think he might be wrong
[27:50]about
[27:52]that. Um, if they're unless they're
[27:55]leaving, right? But I don't think they
[27:57]are. But that that would be a good spot
[28:00]to get. I'll tell my contact that if
[28:03]they ever leave that I would love to
[28:04]have that spot cuz that's actually a
[28:06]pretty good spot. It's got a fence and
[28:09]um, you
[28:11]know, do a good job end up
[28:14]there. But people can stay for years.
[28:17]So, there's no telling. We'll find out,
[28:20]I guess. I'll ask her about
[28:25]it. So, Oh, yeah. There was that one
[28:28]trail to the lake. We'll go check that
[28:31]out.
[28:33]And I guess I'll start heading back.
[28:36]Still early in the day, but there's only
[28:39]so much to do here. It is pretty cold.
[28:42]Despite looking like really beautiful
[28:44]weather, it's real cold today. The audio
[28:47]on my last clip didn't record. I think
[28:49]it might be my my headphones. I took
[28:53]those I unplugged them for a moment. I
[28:56]am near a lake. It's a beautiful lake.
[28:58]It's really beautiful. Sitting on a
[29:00]bridge. Standing on a bridge. This side
[29:03]is a little less It's a little more
[29:05]chaotic, I guess. A lot of lily pads.
[29:08]Whatever those lily pads, I think.
[29:11]So, they're
[29:13]cool. It's different.
[29:16]And I like it here. I think it's just
[29:19]going to
[29:20]be an adaptation for me. I've never been
[29:24]to a campground that was really just a
[29:25]parking lot. And I'm going to be
[29:27]stationed like right at the front next
[29:29]to the
[29:31]um the
[29:33]restroom/shours. And I'm going to have
[29:35]to interact with guests that are not
[29:38]necessarily friendly to people like me.
[29:41]You know, gay men who have lots of
[29:43]piercings and stuff. You know, I saw
[29:45]some Trump flags and things like that,
[29:47]but that doesn't mean, you know, that
[29:50]they're
[29:51]homophobic
[29:53]necessarily. Treat everyone with respect
[29:55]and just hope to get the same in return,
[29:57]but stand your ground if you
[29:59]don't. And that's how I feel about
[30:03]it. It's going to be a different
[30:06]experience, but I want to embrace it. I
[30:08]want to I want to live truly live. So,
[30:12]you know, these people are living out
[30:14]here. They're, you know, they're living
[30:16]good lives
[30:18]um with energy and excitement and I want
[30:22]that. So, I don't think that's a bad
[30:25]thing. I think that this might be
[30:26]exactly what I need. You whether I know
[30:28]it or not, I think this might be what I
[30:30]need.
