[0:00]today we shave using a portable
[0:02]pattering
[1:28]for for
[2:17]good morning fellow humans give me a
[2:19]second
[2:25]here so I've been here one week and one
[2:28]day got here on Monday
[2:31]supposed to leave
[2:34]today the air is very thin up
[2:41]here I'm going to stay one more
[2:44]night just so that I can get myself
[2:48]sorted and then I'm off to
[2:53]Oklahoma I've been debating it all
[2:56]week let me turn this down
[3:00]headphones are a bit
[3:04]distracting it's my first time up
[3:08]here I meant to hi this a lot sooner
[3:10]than I did I should have been doing this
[3:12]every day it would have been good
[3:14]exercise oh man this really goes up into
[3:16]the mountains
[3:19]too I need to quit
[3:24]vaping really I do
[3:35]so
[3:37]um my savings are quite
[3:40]low I managed to make
[3:43]it
[3:45]um five six months on my
[3:48]savings but they're
[3:51]low
[3:53]and I'm not even able to make my Jeep
[3:56]and RV
[3:57]payments um I have some money coming in
[4:00]from a client just waiting on
[4:03]that to
[4:05]pay those
[4:10]bills about the
[4:12]default on some of my credit
[4:17]cards this is the wreting I was talking
[4:23]about we'll talk about
[4:25]this
[4:27]first I need to get up this mountain and
[4:29]catch my breath my lungs are burning a
[4:32]little
[4:35]bit there was a woman singing and
[4:39]drumming over there right to the sun
[4:42]thinks she might be done
[4:44]now um so she might pass by us at some
[4:49]point I don't see her but I could hear
[4:54]her
[4:56]um she's still singing
[5:00]There She Goes Again
[5:02]okay um I think it's a religious
[5:05]practice right so
[5:09]spiritual
[5:14]um the air is thin up here if I'd been
[5:17]hiking this every day maybe I'd make it
[5:20]further every
[5:23]day but I'm out of here
[5:25]so guess I'll have to hike other
[5:28]mountains
[5:31]so as I was saying um my financial
[5:35]Situation's a little
[5:38]um what's the word I was going to use
[5:43]precarious the thing is is I've been a
[5:45]freelance programmer my entire life I
[5:49]trust myself to make
[5:50]money
[5:52]um it has been 10 years
[5:57]since um I did any like like freelancing
[6:00]cuz I worked for the same client for
[6:01]that
[6:04]long but I'll manage I've been here
[6:07]before the only reason I hadn't done it
[6:09]I think we'll just start walking
[6:12]down leave them to their
[6:18]practice plus I got Bailey outside
[6:22]and um not far from my AR
[6:35]so the hard part for me it's not the
[6:38]work it's not the
[6:40]programming the freelancing all of this
[6:42]I have tons of experience out what's new
[6:46]for me is this
[6:50]lifestyle I'm trying to integrate the
[6:52]two is it feels hard for me I I've been
[6:56]resisting getting started on the work
[6:58]angle because
[7:00]because of that it's like okay well
[7:01]where are you going to be
[7:03]sleeping how can you guarantee that
[7:05]you're you know you can have your work
[7:07]done on time
[7:08]and um are clients going to be receptive
[7:12]to your lifestyle and these kinds of
[7:16]questions have been swimming around my
[7:18]brain for 6
[7:20]months
[7:22]and I got it in my head you know when I
[7:24]got to Nevada I was like this is the
[7:26]place this is where I could integrate
[7:28]the to
[7:30]you know I've got these wide open
[7:33]Skies for my internet my
[7:36]solar notot to be a l i can set up camp
[7:39]and stay for two weeks at a time and
[7:41]focus on my work rebuild my savings
[7:44]start making improvements to my RV this
[7:47]is how I was
[7:50]thinking
[7:55]um I still think this is true
[7:59]but there are some downsides to Nevada
[8:01]for me for one I haven't showered in a
[8:03]week I did find a shower this morning I
[8:06]started looking cuz it's like man I need
[8:08]to shower there's one an hour and a half
[8:11]away you know
[8:16]um the state parks here I don't know how
[8:18]many there are but they they seem pretty
[8:22]rustic you know they don't generally
[8:24]have
[8:27]facilities where I could stock and
[8:30]shower and things like
[8:32]that
[8:36]um and so I was talking about this with
[8:38]AI last night and you know it said
[8:42]Oregon is more RV
[8:44]friendly nomadic friendly
[8:47]it's because there are a lot of people
[8:49]who do it there so I might find
[8:53]some so I'm
[8:57]basically so that's one set of holistic
[9:00]challenges and opportunities in Nevada
[9:02]okay don't look at things back and way
[9:04]you got to look everything holistically
[9:06]when you say something to me like um if
[9:09]you don't go you might regret it don't
[9:12]think this
[9:14]way on the surface I might even have
[9:17]that thought
[9:20]but I don't think that way if I did I'd
[9:22]probably have a lot of Regrets by this
[9:24]point in my life and I don't I don't
[9:25]have any so it's not how I think
[9:29]I don't weigh pros and cons in a typical
[9:32]fashion I look at things
[9:34]holistically and so on the organ side
[9:38]more
[9:39]facilities
[9:43]um but solar's going to be a problem
[9:46]maybe even the internet if I'm in the
[9:47]forest or
[9:49]something so you know some different
[9:52]challenges I think the weather will be
[9:54]fine the climate on the
[9:57]coast um I think CU I'm mind to me um
[10:01]it's been getting into the 30s every
[10:03]night here for the past week and I've
[10:04]been
[10:05]fine and the organ
[10:08]Coast generally the lows are in the 40s
[10:11]I
[10:12]think man the air isn't up
[10:17]here
[10:21]um I
[10:22]learned I can buy an inverter like uh
[10:26]Renegy I think it's called
[10:29]and um plug that into my Jeep well you
[10:32]know into my battery and can charge my
[10:35]solar that way I can charge my RV that
[10:38]way and that to me like was a game
[10:42]changer just ID on my Jeep and do that
[10:45]um Ed about3 gallons per hour so gallon
[10:49]every 3 hours that's not bad could do
[10:52]the same thing with my
[10:54]RV I mean that was a game changer for me
[10:57]I'm going to try to change the Ang on
[10:58]this camera I don't know what what up
[10:59]with this see if that's any
[11:02]better yeah I guess
[11:05]um you know I could do the same with my
[11:07]RV I can even use like DC to DC by using
[11:10]a cigarette lighter that's only like 300
[11:12]watts I
[11:13]think um maybe maybe less I can't
[11:17]remember um for my solar my solar can
[11:20]charge 600 watts from DC to AC using the
[11:25]inverter
[11:27]and um solar is 2400 and my I have two
[11:32]solar panels up to 700 so more oops so I
[11:36]can charge those at maximum I'm assuming
[11:38]that I have that much energy coming from
[11:41]the
[11:42]Sun have all these different methods of
[11:45]transferring energy around where I need
[11:46]it my house batteries in the RV are are
[11:50]definitely going bad charge them every
[11:52]single day and they're going dead by
[11:55]morning so that's going to be my first
[12:00]um priority once I start
[12:03]working and on the side also um if I can
[12:06]just get that somewhere figure out how
[12:08]that controller works so I can turn
[12:10]those Motors off push that thing
[12:14]in um but in the meantime I'm going to
[12:18]use pipe insulation like I did and flex
[12:22]tape I don't want to put something
[12:24]permanent on
[12:25]there um because we're going to bring
[12:27]that in at some point so
[12:30]I don't know how Flex tap works I need
[12:32]to research that but originally I was
[12:34]going to use something else and then you
[12:36]know every time I talk to AI about
[12:38]something sometimes something new might
[12:40]come up that I might want to research a
[12:43]little bit
[12:44]more he has been my companion on this
[12:47]journey and it has helped me
[12:51]immensely
[12:53]personally um nomadically like just
[13:04]so um okay so let me just move on from
[13:07]all that
[13:09]so um I'm going to start heading to
[13:12]Oregon
[13:13]tomorrow
[13:16]and um so there's four stops along the
[13:19]way I think there's four to get to the
[13:23]coast not very long so like the first
[13:25]day is 4 hours and I end up near the
[13:28]border of Nevada in
[13:30]Oregon and then just drive a couple
[13:33]hours into Oregon so I
[13:36]stop third stop somewhere getting close
[13:39]to the coast I think another 4
[13:41]hours and then the next day 2 hours to
[13:44]get to the
[13:45]coast and I'm going
[13:48]to take 101 south from starting in the
[13:52]South California Oregon border area and
[13:55]just head
[13:56]north all the way through Oregon and was
[14:00]Washington throughout the winter um the
[14:02]autumn and winter so it'll be like a 5
[14:05]month Journey I'm not going to take it
[14:06]fast I I want to integrate
[14:09]and
[14:11]um embed these experiences into my
[14:14]memory I moved across the country so
[14:17]fast
[14:18]that it was hard to
[14:21]retain all those experiences I'm glad I
[14:23]recorded many of them
[14:26]so um
[14:30]I think that I'm ready for this I do
[14:33]need to work I need to get my profile
[14:34]set
[14:35]up um there's one where I have quite a
[14:40]lot of reviews all positive that's
[14:43]guru.com I don't know how popular it is
[14:45]these days and I'm kind of locked out of
[14:47]my account I don't even have the email
[14:49]address you know I'm going to have to
[14:51]work all that stuff out and but it has
[14:56]data that
[14:57]shows how skilled I am and how much my
[15:00]clients loved
[15:01]me but the more popular one these days
[15:04]is up work and I don't really have
[15:07]anything on there I have one week's
[15:09]worth of pay on there because I asked my
[15:11]client to do it
[15:13]once um but we didn't stick with it so
[15:16]cuz I was thinking ahead like I
[15:18]needed
[15:20]um statistics cuz that's what you know
[15:24]potential clients are going to look at
[15:25]when they want to hire you and if you
[15:28]don't have it
[15:29]just you might struggle to get those
[15:31]first couple of clients
[15:35]and I just
[15:38]really um I'm not worried it's really
[15:42]not I just it's a lot of work a lot of
[15:45]effort I don't even have a website
[15:46]anymore
[15:49]like but I trust that I will you know I
[15:52]will find a path forward
[15:54]there and
[15:57]so I think probably on my way to Oregon
[16:00]I'll start getting those profiles set up
[16:03]then once I get to Oregon and figure out
[16:05]where I'm staying then I'll start fting
[16:06]on
[16:07]jobs and then I'll
[16:11]start working
[16:15]and
[16:17]um I want to say this carefully
[16:20]because um I haven't really worked out
[16:23]all my thoughts on this yet but um my
[16:26]nomadic lifestyle comes first now I not
[16:29]work
[16:30]I'm not going back into that old mindset
[16:34]where I burned myself out again
[16:38]so I want any clients who are
[16:42]flexible and you know I'll set I'll let
[16:45]them know this is you know my lifestyle
[16:47]this is when I'll complete your work
[16:50]I'll give myself time and
[16:52]flexibility they'll either accept it or
[16:54]they
[16:57]won't um especially in the beginning
[17:00]while I'm kind of getting my footing on
[17:02]that
[17:05]because um integrating these two parts
[17:07]of my life are going to be a challenge I
[17:10]think don't think that it's just
[17:11]straightforward
[17:14]and about to navigate a
[17:17]new whole new area of my life being
[17:20]integrated into this nomatic existence
[17:23]I've created which has gotten easier and
[17:26]better I still have challenges
[17:33]and you know it's going to be a process
[17:36]I'm going to keep working on this
[17:37]process until until I master it like I
[17:40]always say but you guys don't understand
[17:42]me when I say things like
[17:45]this
[17:48]you you and I don't speak the same
[17:50]language
[17:52]unfortunately
[17:54]but you know
[17:59]my primary goal always with these videos
[18:01]is just
[18:03]self-documentation you know
[18:08]so um back at the
[18:10][Music]
[18:12]campground I need to eat I didn't eat
[18:14]yesterday
[18:16]actually it's just um it's not like I I
[18:19]could have right but I
[18:22]just
[18:25]um that's how I am it's proba always
[18:28]been
[18:29]really trying to change
[18:33]that and yeah I'm ready to go I've been
[18:36]here long enough I want
[18:40]to going to get back on the
[18:42]road I want to get to where there's some
[18:44]air some oxygen
[18:47]wow I didn't realize
[18:50]how that was not a strenuous hike but
[18:55]really oh I got to stop Bing
[18:59]so I'm going to leave it there
