[0:02]not what I meant to
[0:05]do going to show you outside as this
[0:07]thing went
[0:13]on so I made myself every bone last
[0:16]night
[0:19]night good morning
[0:22][Music]
[0:26]Bailey technically sleeping the wrong
[0:29]way in order to sleep plan on this bed
[0:31]but I think I slept all right it's 48
[0:34]out there it's
[0:37]cold I'm not wearing proper clothing for
[0:40]this kind of
[0:43]cold
[0:46]um
[0:51]so oddly it's going to get very warm
[0:54]again today what's that
[0:56]about how can it go from 47 to 8
[1:01]I don't want 1181 degree weather anymore
[1:05]I like this weather I
[1:10]do oh yeah I made myself vulnerable
[1:13]yesterday I'm okay with
[1:18]this I don't have all the answers I
[1:21]don't know what's going to
[1:25]happen I know how it sounds
[1:31]how can one person influence the world
[1:34]in any way shape or form I don't think
[1:37]it works that way I think it's a little
[1:39]more
[1:40]decentralized I have an idea of what I'm
[1:42]doing just put it that
[1:56]way you have to do what you can
[2:00]you have to try even if even if failure
[2:03]is the most likely outcome because we're
[2:05]talking about the fate of the
[2:08]world you got to
[2:13]try so I
[2:17]will so anyways I am going to get up
[2:23]and make a
[2:25]list for the hardware store and go to
[2:28]for drive today get some hardware
[2:34]supplies beyond that I don't know
[2:37]yet so morning is upon us it's
[2:42]10: um I guess it's very small but it's
[2:46]pretty Lake you can see people out there
[2:48]we got a van lifer over there West Scott
[2:51]Lake Drive yeah and I saw some people
[2:54]fishing at some called Scot Lake that's
[2:57]all I know trying to find
[3:02]where the dump stations are because I
[3:04]missed those on the way um I couldn't
[3:06]find my other camr I was a little
[3:09]distracted just wanted to get here I
[3:12]guess continue on West Scott Lake Drive
[3:14]for half mil oh this will take me out of
[3:18]here I guess I'll figure it out on the
[3:19]way back then anyways
[3:23]um what was I going to talk
[3:26]about oh that's pretty that's a pretty
[3:28]link I like when Sunshine reflects off
[3:31]the off the Lakes very
[3:34]pretty this is a nice place oh those
[3:37]there's like um
[3:40]some I don't want to get it wrong but an
[3:42]indigenous tribes um old settlement is
[3:46]around here we call them ruins you know
[3:49]but um that doesn't feel respectful to
[3:53]me it's one of their old
[3:56]settlements abandoned I guess you could
[3:58]say
[4:00]I would have liked to have looked at
[4:02]that cuz I remember seeing one when I
[4:03]was a kid in the bo Couts in Arizona was
[4:06]very fascinated by it I don't really
[4:09]feel like I have the time there's so
[4:10]much going
[4:11]on so I'm going to I need I need coffee
[4:14]first of all really bad so I'm hoping
[4:16]I'll find that in town
[4:20]and um I need to get something to eat I
[4:23]could really use some breakfast I
[4:25]haven't been stocking up my fridge
[4:28]because um um all the ice it's on the
[4:32]metal mechanism thing I haven't dealt
[4:34]with that yet but I just turned my
[4:35]fridge off I'm going to want to start be
[4:38]thaying on its own and then probably
[4:40]take a hair dryer to it
[4:42]today um hopefully it was just an
[4:44]accumulation over the summer and I won't
[4:46]continue to have this problem um I guess
[4:50]if I can just treat it as an ongoing
[4:52]maintenance kind of thing or if it
[4:53]starts to build ice up just get a hair
[4:56]dryer out before it gets as bad as it is
[4:58]now
[5:00]so I'm going to get supplies for
[5:02]insulating as many as I can it's hard to
[5:04]fit stuff in this Jeet but I'll get what
[5:06]I
[5:07]can
[5:09]and just wanted to briefly talk about
[5:12]where my head is at as far as what I'm
[5:15]going to do I'm going to write a book
[5:17]it's going to be on GitHub that's for
[5:20]those of you who don't know
[5:23]um it's a place
[5:25]where well how am I going to describe
[5:28]this as long always hard to describe
[5:30]things to non programmers for me anyways
[5:33]um let just say it's a it's a a resource
[5:36]where you can download digital copies of
[5:40]it you can clone them you can translate
[5:44]them and you know make your own projects
[5:46]from them cuz I'm VI this as a
[5:49]decentralized process no one person can
[5:52]save the world all I can do is share my
[5:54]perspective and my thinking is I'll
[5:57]write a framework of how I think the
[6:00]world can live in better alignment with
[6:01]the world you know the rest of the world
[6:04]and let hear my thoughts
[6:06]on what I've seen in this in this world
[6:09]in my whole life in society and um the
[6:13]challenges I think people will
[6:15]face when collapse comes and the new
[6:19]system start to develop kind of how to
[6:21]navigate that
[6:23]World
[6:25]um just all my thoughts on how to live
[6:27]an integrated life how to
[6:30]how to heal the fragmentation over
[6:32]Generations because that's what it will
[6:33]take and then hopefully some people will
[6:36]pick that up you know because when
[6:39]Society collapses all the structures go
[6:42]and um everybody's going to be
[6:46]living in Pockets some of those pockets
[6:49]are going to be technologically advanced
[6:52]still because you know I'm not naive
[6:55]there's the dumb station okay I'm not
[6:57]naive I know that um um you know our
[7:00]governments and corporations and our
[7:02]rich people and you know they'll build
[7:05]commun turn right onto Kansas 95 south
[7:09]um but the rest of us are going to have
[7:11]to find our own way and if these little
[7:14]communities can pick up this
[7:17]book and use it as a guide to build a
[7:21]more sustainable future for themselves
[7:22]take next r on Kansas 95 south if they
[7:25]truly embody what I believe that I can
[7:27]teach
[7:30]through a lifetime of thinking about
[7:32]this stuff and experiences that I've had
[7:35]my whole life because I mean I'm a
[7:38]systems thinker through and through I
[7:40]started programming in the six red like
[7:41]I said I used to program on
[7:44]paper um I know that a lot of you don't
[7:46]understand the significance continue on
[7:48]Kansas 95 south for 3 miles
[7:51]but I have been looking at systems my
[7:54]whole life I understand them through and
[7:56]through I can embody them I can Envision
[7:59]that my head and work with
[8:02]them I think that I have a unique set of
[8:05]skills for exactly this and I've known
[8:08]it my whole life and I've resisted it my
[8:10]whole life yeah now I'm
[8:14]not see one of the reasons I resisted it
[8:17]is because I don't want to be seen as a
[8:20]leader or a savior or like I don't even
[8:25]want my name to be remembered I truly
[8:26]don't I'm going to document this with my
[8:28]screen name AR
[8:30]fire um because if if people started to
[8:35]attach a person to this then they're
[8:38]just committing the same fragmentation
[8:41]all over again they have not embodied
[8:43]the lessons I'm trying to teach this is
[8:45]not about me this is about leaving
[8:47]something
[8:50]behind
[8:53]that I wish I had lived in you know
[8:57]um always been that way like one day I
[9:00]was talking about how I had been helping
[9:01]a 19-year-old who's going through some
[9:03]issues that I did it's just how that
[9:06]works you know you you have empathy
[9:08]for
[9:12]um I have great empathy for Humanity
[9:15]believe it or
[9:17]not it's always been kind of a sorts ATT
[9:21]tension for me because it's not like
[9:22]Humanity's done anything good for me but
[9:25]I do and I would like to see this be a
[9:29]better world than than the one that I'll
[9:31]be leaving
[9:32]because you know I'm getting older and I
[9:36]don't know how much of post collapse
[9:37]I'll see I don't even know if I'll
[9:40]survive
[9:41]it
[9:46]um all I can tell you is that we can't
[9:49]continue down the path that we're on and
[9:51]a lot of what I'll have to share is
[9:53]going to be super controversial because
[9:55]my whole life I've stood in opposition
[9:57]to the rest of you
[10:00]not by choice not by
[10:03]any Act of Will on my part it's just the
[10:08]natural result of living in a fragmented
[10:10]world when you're
[10:11]not
[10:13]and the way the everything is structured
[10:16]in this world is
[10:19]wrong and so I know what I'm stepping
[10:23]into and I'm a little uncomfortable with
[10:25]that but I also know it's necessary
[10:36]so I'm embracing it so finally I'm
[10:40]accepting it my intuition always does
[10:43]this to me it doesn't let go until I
[10:46]accept
[10:47]it my deepest truth refuse
[10:51]to let me ignore
[10:56]them and you know
[10:59]it sounds like I don't have a choice but
[11:01]I do every choice I made leading up to
[11:03]to right
[11:05]now is why my intuition my integrated
[11:09]cognition is the way it is
[11:11]it's something anyone could have
[11:15]done it's integration is possible for
[11:18]all of us it will not be easy but when
[11:22]the world
[11:24]collapses a lot of people are going to
[11:25]realize it's it's necessary the
[11:28]something is they're going to finally be
[11:29]open to okay obviously this way didn't
[11:32]work so it's time to try something else
[11:36]and I promise
[11:38]you in my
[11:43]car I
[11:46]know at least a good portion of in a on
[11:50]us that is a pretty magical site just
[11:53]Farmland all the way up into the Horizon
[11:56]of the sky I mean that's amazing I know
[11:59]people think that's boring but it's not
[12:01]it's
[12:03]incredible see if I can get myself in
[12:05]the right
[12:07]Gear walk down the street and get some
[12:10]coffee so a coffee shop come
[12:14]downtown boy this town has a smell to
[12:18]it smells like fertilizer of
[12:22]course
[12:25]fascinating oh let's see where we're at
[12:30]it's way down there I was kind of
[12:32]undecided at
[12:34]first we'll get there know they'd be
[12:37]closed you don't know till noon it's
[12:40]hour and a half from
[12:43]now guess I'll find something
[12:45]somewhere thinking I should have just
[12:47]looked for a gas station oh I see a
[12:50]truck stop down there that's where we're
[12:52]going okay they didn't have anything I
[12:55]need so I'm going to have to travel to
[12:57]the next biggest town which is about 40
[12:59]minutes away kind of thought that might
[13:02]happen so I'll plug that into my GPS and
[13:05]go on a little drive and hopefully find
[13:08]what I
[13:11]need it's going to be a fun project I've
[13:14]thought through there's this
[13:16]underlayment stuff that's it looks
[13:18]really nice I actually really like it
[13:20]I'm going to put that on my ceiling and
[13:22]my floor that's what I'm going to do
[13:23]first I think is the
[13:25]floor um I originally wanted to carpet
[13:28]it but I actually think this is better
[13:30]cuz this is real
[13:32]insulation and it won't feel strange I
[13:34]don't think it won't be squishy or
[13:35]anything like that like reflects would
[13:38]be and
[13:41]um yeah I'm going to enjoy doing this
[13:43]project I just I got to get the
[13:45]materials today because tomorrow when I
[13:48]head to Nebraska um it's a 9-hour drive
[13:52]I'm traveling right through the state up
[13:53]into the northeastern part of it like
[13:55]right at the border so I just I checked
[13:58]that this morning
[13:59]um I think I proba I had a lot of
[14:02]difficulty finding places I could
[14:05]reserve um because not because there
[14:08]weren't any available but because they
[14:09]were first come first serve and I just
[14:11]didn't want to take a chance on just
[14:14]driving somewhere nothing being
[14:16]available when I have no knowledge about
[14:18]this area
[14:19]so worst case scenario if it feels like
[14:22]too long over drive I maybe will do that
[14:24]just go find one that's first come first
[14:26]Serv St there overnight and very much
[14:29]mobile now so I can do that you
[14:31]know we'll see we'll see how it goes
[14:34]tomorrow I just I want to get the
[14:35]materials now cuz I feel like the
[14:37]further rest I've been going
[14:40]the more difficult it is to find the
[14:43]things I need so if I can get them today
[14:46]then I will be in a much better place to
[14:49]work on that stuff while I'm on the road
[14:51]to the to
[14:52]Oregon very excited to get
[14:55]there because I um have very limited
[14:58]space on my phone right now I need to I
[15:00]need to transfer everything to my
[15:01]desktop I'm just going to end it here um
[15:04]since I got a long drive ahead of me and
[15:06]um you'll find out what I got tomorrow I
[15:08]guess you all have a good day
Summary
rswfire wakes up at Scott Lake in 48-degree weather, reflecting on making himself vulnerable the previous day. He discusses his plan to write a decentralized book on GitHub about living in alignment and navigating post-collapse communities. The book will be published under his screen name to avoid personality attachment and fragmentation. He describes his unique systems thinking background and reluctant acceptance of this role. After finding the local coffee shop closed, he drives to find RV insulation materials at a hardware store in a larger town, planning a 9-hour drive to Nebraska the next day. He discusses the practical challenges of finding reservable campsites versus first-come-first-serve options.
