[0:01]so I'm going to try to explain to you
[0:05]guys why this slide is such a problem
[0:08]and how it
[0:09]mirrors the problems in
[0:13]society people view these slides as
[0:16]progress they're not they're a
[0:18]regression I had 6 months of back pain
[0:21]because my bed sits on a bed platform
[0:24]that's integrated into a slide that's
[0:27]subject to its own breaking a systemic
[0:29]failure my side is breaking
[0:32]now I have to bring the slide in and out
[0:35]which forces me to reconfigure my space
[0:38]all the time when the slide is out I can
[0:40]use my bed but that bed is uneven and
[0:43]it's not even it's just not comfortable
[0:46]it's awful I spent 6 months trying to
[0:48]fix
[0:49]that because there's a slide there's no
[0:52]storage space in here if this slide
[0:55]didn't exist I would have had Al CES I
[0:58]would have had things to put my things
[0:59]in
[1:00]I didn't so I couldn't make the space
[1:02]work for me so I spent 6 months trying
[1:05]to figure out how to do that all because
[1:09]of this
[1:10]slide and it is a mirror of what we do
[1:13]in society this is a fragmented way of
[1:16]of thinking about the world this was not
[1:18]progress this is a regression if this
[1:21]slide didn't exist I would have had
[1:23]storage and a comfortable bed the things
[1:25]that actually matter in here one
[1:27]clarification to my last video so I live
[1:30]in my Army it is my home but it did not
[1:33]feel like a home with that slide out
[1:36]they made the slide out thinking that it
[1:38]might help you feel that way but it made
[1:41]everything worse I had a nice bed when I
[1:44]lived in a home I slept well I haven't
[1:47]slept well in 6 months in this thing
[1:49]I've had back pain for 6 months because
[1:51]of this thing I had storage at
[1:54]home I didn't have to keep reconfiguring
[1:57]my life all the time when I had a home
[2:01]putting my slide
[2:03]in gave me all of those things back this
[2:06]was a systemic
[2:08]failure I can understand if they were
[2:11]made for like some niche market but they
[2:13]have turned them into a thing that
[2:16]everybody thinks they have to have and
[2:18]it's harder and harder to find them
[2:20]without outsides now and these things
[2:22]are systemic failures mine's
[2:25]breaking they all break eventually
[2:30]and that is just another tension that
[2:33]you have to deal with it's just another
[2:36]example of how we think that we're
[2:38]making progress but we're actually
[2:40]making everything worse my life was made
[2:43]worse by that slide not
[2:45]better one of the most important aspects
[2:48]of human health is getting good restful
[2:51]sleep and RV manufacturers decided to
[2:54]put bed
[2:56]platforms on slide out mechanisms they
[2:59]split split your bed in half they're not
[3:02]level because one has to go over the
[3:04]other when the slide comes
[3:07]in the most important thing that you
[3:11]need as a human being is a flat surface
[3:14]to sleep on and they took that away from
[3:16]you does that make sense to you here's
[3:20]the bottom
[3:22]line that slide out adds friction to
[3:26]your life it stresses you out because
[3:29]you have to to adapt to it it didn't
[3:31]adaptt to you it didn't make your life
[3:33]better I spent 6 months trying all kinds
[3:36]of things bed Toppers new mattresses um
[3:40]foam board to put underneath one part of
[3:42]the side when it was out so that the
[3:44]surface was more Flats you know and then
[3:47]the friction of having to pull those up
[3:50]and store those away when I was bringing
[3:52]it in like nothing but
[3:55]friction that's what they're doing to
[3:57]you it's a form of fragmentation adding
[4:00]friction to your life friction is not
[4:02]healthy
