[0:03]but I'm going to introduce myself my

[0:04]name is Sam I live in an RV I've been

[0:07]living in an RV for 6 months I do a lot

[0:09]of hiking and exploring and this video

[0:12]is about my day today it was actually

[0:15]quite profound I encountered a mother

[0:17]deer and two of her her Do's children on

[0:22]a trail we couldn't get around each

[0:24]other so we kind of existed in the same

[0:26]space for over an hour it was one of the

[0:28]most profound things to ever happened to

[0:29]me my life it was truly special then

[0:32]after that I kept hiking and some

[0:35]branches from a tree fell down very

[0:37]close to me but I was observing and knew

[0:40]what was happening so I was paying

[0:42]attention I got all that on camera and I

[0:44]talked about some other things like um I

[0:47]want to work for the Park Service I've

[0:49]decided that's the direction I want to

[0:51]go in my life I'm a programmer all my

[0:53]life but this lifestyle I was a

[0:56]deliberate choice and I'm trying to

[0:58]align my life

[1:00]completely differently than how Society

[1:03]tells me I should live it anyways

[1:06]enjoying good morning

[1:09]humans just walking back from the shower

[1:12]houses took a very long shower today

[1:16]still not awake though need coffee I

[1:19]don't

[1:20]have um the supplies for it in my RV not

[1:25]sure what we're doing today want to go

[1:27]hiking somewhere we could go to the

[1:29]local

[1:30]Trail um that I was talking about one of

[1:33]the cor engineer Trails but I feel more

[1:36]drawn to Mammoth Cave I kind of want to

[1:39]go there again I was thinking maybe we

[1:41]could go and take the other Fork um to

[1:43]the original Trails they have I bet it's

[1:46]pretty cool down there because of the

[1:47]caves and it's going to be 95 today

[1:52]again um for the next 3 days it's going

[1:54]to be in the high

[1:56]90s

[1:58]and um I need to find a slightly bigger

[2:01]city cuz I need to go to a hardore store

[2:04]we'll talk about that in a

[2:06]minute so I'm just kind of thinking

[2:09]through what I'd like to get done today

[2:11]it's pretty much RV related and Hiking I

[2:14]need to

[2:16]just well so the Heat's really bad well

[2:21]there's a couple of problems and I think

[2:22]I can solve a couple both of these

[2:25]problems with the same

[2:26]solution so it's getting up to8 5 inside

[2:30]the

[2:31]RV and late afternoon that's just too

[2:35]hot um you know this is Kentucky it's

[2:37]not just high heat it's high humidity

[2:39]too it's quite

[2:42]unbearable and last night a whole bunch

[2:44]of gats got into my RV

[2:47]and um that was

[2:50]unfortunate not fun so I was wondering

[2:54]how they got in and I had a feeling I

[2:55]knew if there was a slide

[2:58]mechanism so there were a whole bunch of

[3:01]them out here this morning I noticed

[3:03]they were all over my RV over on this

[3:05]side I had already put this pipe

[3:08]instulation in there cuz I'm used to

[3:10]this spot like having problems um

[3:13]because there's like a hole there but I

[3:15]never put it on this side I did this

[3:17]this morning so I just want to go to the

[3:19]hardware store and get properly cut

[3:22]links for this um cuz there's a spot

[3:25]there that's not done obviously I could

[3:26]cut that and put it there but I just

[3:28]want to I want to be more more efficient

[3:30]so I can put them into that storage pay

[3:32]there I want to keep these on the

[3:33]outside and start using them make this

[3:35]part of my

[3:37]routine so that should help keep out

[3:40]these little gnats or whatever they are

[3:41]one of them landed on me this morning

[3:43]and bit me I don't I didn't think gats

[3:45]bit you so whatever they are they're

[3:47]kind of they're real Annoying and

[3:50]hopefully it will help with the heat a

[3:51]little bit I truly don't

[3:54]know um so another

[3:58]issue my

[4:00]fridge is getting too hot during the day

[4:03]I do monitor The Temper I you know I

[4:05]have to monitor everything in my RV I

[4:07]monitor the temperature of the fridge

[4:09]and

[4:10]it's I'm getting into like 42 you it has

[4:14]to be under 40 or bacteria starts

[4:16]growing not really keeping much in there

[4:19]so it's not a huge problem it's just you

[4:22]know basically soda that I have in there

[4:24]um I had you know condiments the kind of

[4:27]things you always have in a fridge I'm

[4:29]going to have to throw throw them out I

[4:30]feel cuz you just can't I've been having

[4:33]this problem every day all week so don't

[4:35]trust that stuff now and I won't I won't

[4:39]refill it until I feel like I've solved

[4:41]the problem and that one I'm not quite

[4:43]sure how to solve there is a buildup of

[4:46]ice on the mechanism that creates the

[4:48]cool effect in there I don't know what

[4:50]it's called um I'm wondering if that

[4:53]makes it less efficient so I'll try like

[4:55]getting all that ice off of there might

[4:58]not do that today we'll see

[5:01]and um but you know you'll see when I do

[5:04]it I have a feeling it probably does

[5:07]make it less fishing I don't know it's

[5:08]just a a feeling I have maybe that will

[5:11]help I'm not sure what else I could do

[5:13]though because see on this side usually

[5:15]when the fridge gets too hot it's

[5:17]because the sun is beating down on this

[5:19]side of the RV but that doesn't happen

[5:21]because of this tree I don't even need

[5:23]to bring out the awning you can bring

[5:24]out the awning to kind of protect that

[5:26]area there from the Sun but it's not

[5:29]going to help

[5:30]so those are my current issues minus all

[5:33]the other ones that the RV Shop's going

[5:34]to you know fix for me next week

[5:37]so um I think we can do something about

[5:40]that today and that's pretty much my

[5:42]goal along with finding somewhere to go

[5:44]hiking I think we decide we're just

[5:45]going to go to the original Trails there

[5:48]oh let me just address this so usually

[5:50]when I address something I don't ever

[5:51]bring it up again so if I get comments

[5:53]in the future about it and someone sees

[5:55]it you are welcome to reply um You

[5:58]probably noticed I started to use we

[6:00]more often it's cuz I'm taking Along on

[6:03]my journey it's not like I think of you

[6:05]know it's

[6:06]not it's it's just me I guess

[6:09]acknowledging that we're this is a Shar

[6:11]Journey so that's why I've been doing

[6:13]that so we're back at the mammo cave V

[6:16]Visitor Center um when I was hiking here

[6:20]yesterday we went behind the visitor

[6:22]center we hiked a trail and I ended up

[6:23]back in the parking lot which is in

[6:25]front of the visitor center right next

[6:28]to my Jeep I just CED some things that I

[6:30]wanted to show you guys

[6:33]because they have influenced me quite

[6:37]profoundly and have chared me a path for

[6:40]my future so I want to show

[6:43]you you see these buildings

[6:45]here those are for Resident

[6:48]workers and they have inspired me to

[6:52]decide on a new path for my

[6:54]life so we're just going to go for a

[6:56]hike I'm not even bringing my backpack

[6:58]or anything we're just going to

[7:00]talk any I could have brought my Jeep

[7:03]down here you can drive down

[7:06]here this will take us to the trail that

[7:09]I took

[7:10]yesterday and I noticed these over here

[7:13]these little

[7:15]residential buildings you know that's a

[7:19]community community lives

[7:22]there diverse people who all share kind

[7:25]of a common goal you know they're all

[7:28]working for the Park Service

[7:31]I want that I have spent 6 months trying

[7:36]to figure out what I want to do with my

[7:37]life and I know now I want to work for

[7:40]the Park

[7:42]Service don't know if that will

[7:46]be easy or hard to do there's a lot to

[7:49]consider

[7:52]so

[7:55]um with my mobile lifestyle right but I

[7:59]think that they're accommodating to

[8:00]things like that

[8:03]so I did you know do some talking with

[8:06]AI about it last

[8:08]night things are seasonal um some many

[8:12]jobs are

[8:14]temporary you can move within the park

[8:16]system

[8:18]probably there's a lot to figure

[8:22]out that's what I want to do and I would

[8:24]do anything I pick up

[8:27]trash I just want to work for the park

[8:29]Serv

[8:33]infrastructure here the buildings are so

[8:38]nice it's just a beautiful place I like

[8:41]the

[8:42]way they've Blended human activity with

[8:46]nature feels very organized there's a

[8:48]whole system

[8:53]here and I love

[8:55]it I want to be a part of it

[9:00]this this is the trail that I came off

[9:01]of

[9:03]yesterday so we're going to hike that

[9:05]and that'll take us behind the visitor

[9:07]center and then we can get to the other

[9:16]trails that building over there says

[9:29]um I enjoyed it so we're

[9:34]back it's quite hot

[9:37]today it's well above the

[9:41]90s I'm thinking once we get to the end

[9:44]of this Trail and we get on the other

[9:47]trails that I didn't take yesterday

[9:49]they're going to take us down

[9:50]further um I felt the very cool

[9:54]breeze it was quite remarkable

[9:57]when I first got on the trails over

[10:00]there so I'm thinking if we go down

[10:03]further we might experience more of that

[10:05]might be quite cool freaking mosquito or

[10:09]something I put on that new

[10:13]lotion but now they're going for my ears

[10:15]should have used it there

[10:18]too it's mostly an non issue

[10:24]though I've just been getting eaten up

[10:27]so badly you know see

[10:30]oh this part of the trail felt like it

[10:32]had more mosquitoes than the other part

[10:34]of the trail I was on which I found that

[10:37]interesting cuz the other part was just

[10:39]so Serene

[10:41]and you were not dealing with

[10:49]insects but that's what Summer's like

[10:52]you

[10:53]know definitely prefer the other

[10:56]Seasons that was another thing

[11:01]um you know there a lot of seasonal jobs

[11:04]but some parks probably are open year

[11:08]round and I'm wondering if

[11:12]maybe the off seasons are harder to fill

[11:15]the jobs for and those are the seasons

[11:18]that I would most want to work

[11:20]so

[11:22]um I really want to explore

[11:26]this I'm hopeful that it works out

[11:31]so I learned today this is why the ferry

[11:33]is closed the river is too

[11:36]low it gets you over to the north side

[11:39]of Mammoth Caves

[11:42]where there is a trail there I want to

[11:44]hike I'll take an hour and a half to

[11:46]drive there 20 minutes by ferry I think

[11:49]we'll end up down there somehow once I

[11:51]get off of this Trail and we start

[11:53]heading downward I think we're going to

[11:54]end up over near the

[11:56]river I'm hoping so I think we'll

[11:58]actually be able to so get closer to

[12:00]it there's some deer over

[12:03]there I don't want to startle

[12:09]them oh it's a mother and two

[12:13]babies walking the

[12:16]trail to get

[12:19]backwards not disturb

[23:16]or if I was an obstacle or what you know

[23:24]and really enjoying watching them

[23:26]because that was so cool that was so

[26:45]distant past people just chilled there

[26:49]hung out talked to each other

[27:00]I love these trees

[27:17]know of our modern world the way it

[27:20]disconnects us from this place

[27:25]nature I see those deer

[27:29]my first impulse is to keep moving

[27:32]rather than sit in a Lial state with

[27:41]them it's not

[27:43]good if I'm experiencing it I can only

[27:46]imagine what the majority of people are

[27:52]experiencing it explains a lot about my

[27:54]channel too it

[27:56]just but that's not important

[27:59]what's important is

[28:02]that we become very

[28:07]disconnected and it is not an easy

[28:09]problem to solve but we have to be

[28:12]mindful of

[28:16]it we should be able to connect with

[28:19]places like this

[28:30]you really can't get lost here because

[28:32]there's a whole other Trail we could go

[28:34]and

[28:36]explore or we could go that way back

[28:39]to where my Jeep is at there's a trail

[28:42]here but it's

[28:44]closed wish I

[28:47]could um wish I worked here and I could

[28:49]work on Trails like

[28:53]that but it has been a very pleasant

[28:55]time in the high 9s

[29:00]humidity um my entire skin is

[29:03]glistening love that

[29:11]do and I had a very good time here it

[29:14]was very good for my

[29:17]soul and it's time

[29:22]to tend of the Practical I guess I'm

[29:26]guessing this was the original like Road

[29:28]or path that they took back then after

[29:31]they got off the the

[29:33]ferry um or whatever the what did they

[29:36]call that not a

[29:40]steamboat well you

[29:42]know we saw the sign for

[29:58]definitely takes a lot out of

[30:03]you and we're going up a very steep

[30:06]England here for half a

[30:10]mile there is nothing though compared to

[30:12]the Natural Bridge

[30:14]or my hikes back in the Boy

[30:18]Scouts Boy were those

[30:24]brutal it's very pleasant actually

[30:32]here it's like an air conditioner it is

[30:36]absolutely

[30:38]amazing it is so pleasant on a day like

[30:46]magical there's cool air conditioned air

[30:53]just I'm blending with the hot humid air

[30:58]it's just an it is an interesting

[31:02]Dynamic it is it is fabulous

[32:45]to be 40 40 and

[32:47]39 that should fit into this storage Bay

[32:51]I need to confirm that yeah easily it's

[32:53]like 42 in at the door and it actually

[32:55]has more space than that so for 40 40

[32:58]and 39 got those

[33:00]in up here too look at this I guarantee

[33:05]you that is my wardrobe there or my bad

[33:08]platform actually what a shitty design

[33:11]it's just shitty we're going to put

[33:14]something there

[33:24]guess we'll do something like that I

[33:26]think that's better than these these

[33:28]things I can feel the cold air um when I

[33:32]without that isulation there just

[33:34]seeping right out of my RV you know what

[33:38]waste absolutely

[33:40]ridiculous this might look a little bit

[33:44]silly and it's extra steps right but

[33:47]this is what you got to do it's what you

[33:49]got to do putting that pipe insulation

[33:52]around my slide mechanism is going to

[33:54]solve several problems it's going to

[33:56]help keep the heat or cool in

[33:58]you know it's going to keep the

[33:59]environment better sealed and it's going

[34:01]to get keep insects from getting in

[34:03]there which has been a long-term problem

[34:04]since I moved into the thing and I

[34:06]suspect that's probably how they're

[34:07]getting in

[34:10]so pretty pleased with that um solution

[34:15]and I wish that you know the RV

[34:17]manufacturers made these better but they

[34:18]don't and you need to be aware of that

[34:22]because some of it's quite pathetic and

[34:25]you know you have to do the these do

[34:28]these diy things in order to to live

[34:30]this way
